Why Solo Group Trips Are The BEST Way To Travel

Yes you read that correctly! I know solo and group sound like complete contradictions, but hear me out. It’s a popular misconception that group trips are rigid and filled with activities you have no interest in, but baaabaaae; it’s really not like that AT ALL!

Solo group trips combine the best of both worlds. You still have plenty of flexibility and freedom like you’d get if you went alone, but with the added bonus of having someone to share the experience (and cost) with if you want it. Still need a bit more convincing? As the unofficial ambassador for solo group trips, here's my list of top 5 reasons solo group trips are the best way to travel.

No more FOMO

If you’ve spent any amount of time on Tiktok or the gram, I know you’ve seen endless vacation content pop-up on your feed. Are you the kind to skip over them or  give a passive aggressive double tap knowing you’re salty af? Well no more. By joining a group trip you can be that girl posting all the “Living My Best Life” photos. Stop putting your life on hold waiting for your friends and book the trip sis.

There’s Safety in Numbers

Have you been thinking about booking a solo trip for awhile but the idea of being completely alone in a new country terrifies you? Listen, that is a perfectly normal reaction given the circumstances. Solo group trips can be just the confidence boost you need to test the waters. Traveling in a group gives you reassurance and protection in your tribe, but still allows for independence if you choose. You aren’t confined to sticking to a strict plan, in most cases, and alone time is often factored into your itinerary.

Everything is Planned for You

Is there really anything better than hassle free worry free travel? This point could’ve really been a post on its own. Have you ever tried orchestrating your own travel plans? It can be overwhelming at best, and downright impossible at its worst. Especially if you are planning your own international trip. As someone who recently started planning a lot of my own trips over the last 3 months, I can tell you IT’S WORK.

There are so many variables at play, like will you have transportation from the airport? What do you do if your flight lands earlier than your check-in time? How can you tell if the excursions you booked are legit? What are the COVID requirements? Who do you contact if something doesn’t go as planned? I could go on and on because the list of potential headaches just doesn’t end. Thankfully, with solo group trips, all of these things are taken care of for you. Yep! You can truly kick back, relax, and enjoy your trip from the minute you touch down.

Try New Things

We can sometimes painfully be creatures of habit. Visit the same places, eat the same food, shake our rumps to the same music. Why? Because we don’t know what we don't know. New people can put you on to new experiences you never even knew you liked. More than that, getting out of your comfort zone causes you to grow and expand your perspective. How will you know what you’re made of if you never get out of your comfort zone?

New Friends Who Dis

Anyone else’s friends let them down time after time? I completely understand that life happens and funds aren’t always there, but it can be very discouraging when you are continually told “next time”. The beauty of solo group trips is that women just like you have come together for a similar goal. Travel.

Establishing a bond is almost impossible not to do when you are connecting  like minded women in beautiful countries embarking on experiences you can’t believe. Who else can better relate than the women you’re traveling with? The stories you’ll have and laughter you’ll share is bound to open the doors to new meaningful friendships. And guess what? You may just find yourself a travel buddy in the process.

With more millennial women of color than ever having disposable income, it’s never been a better time to travel. If you’re tired of your friends getting your hopes up only to flam on you at the last minute, it’s time you gave solo group travel a try.
